Design a plan for Dissemination and Diffusion of Instructional and/or Non-Instructional Interventions

Challenges

  • Create a vision of change that aligns learning and performance goals with organizational goals

Evidence of a vision change/creation that aligns with learning goals, performance goals, and/or organizational goals (e.g., big picture, company standards, etc.)

Reflection must address: How did you arrive at your redesign (i.e., new vision and interventions) and how it aligns with learning goals, performance goals and/or organizational goals–consider the dialogue and negotiation needs that were considered in the planning process during this vision of change?

Examples include but are not limited to:

    • EDCI 528 – Design and Develop HPT Solutions and Evaluation Plan
    • EDCI 564 – Final Project
    • EDCI 573 – Full proposal and artifacts from practicum
    • EDCI 633 – Project foundations case analysis
    • EDCI 672 – Case analysis

For the challenge “Create a vision of change that aligns learning and performance goals with organizational goals,” I am submitting my EDCI 572 Design Document part one and the final design document.

The challenge asks to submit evidence of a change in “vision” that aligns learning and performance goals with organizational goals. The artifacts Design Doc. p1, Design Doc p2 and the Final Design Document show a complete change in vision for the learning and performance goals. Artifacts 1 & 2 demonstrate a gradual creation of the flow of learner objectives that I had established for this eLearning experience. The specific parts of the documents I am referring to is the project diagram and the performance objectives (found in DD p.2, pages 8-12). Both undergo a large vision change within the Final Design Document. The purpose of the vision change was because my organization wished to align learning and the projects objectives with each individual minor skill required for interacting with a website.

These papers and project are the shining moment of my work within this program. This was the very first design document I had ever been tasked with creating. I found myself in some trouble in the beginning of the course because I had no understanding of how to write learning objectives. By the end of the Final design document I felt like I had a much better understanding of how to envision the flow of objectives and learning. This project set the foundation of my learning here within Purdue and within my line of work.

As stated above, this project is the foundation of my knowledge in terms of objective writing. With that being said, there’s still more to learn. I am sure as time moves forward, projects will continuously change and undergo vision changes. I only hope that my ability to adapt to vision changes continues to grow as well.

  • Create a plan for the dissemination and/or the diffusion of the interventions

Evidence of a specific plan for communicating (disseminating) the vision to stakeholders and achieve organizational-wide adoption (diffusion)

Reflection must address: Explain why your plan for dissemination and diffusion is appropriate for the needs and culture of this organization.

For the challenge “Create a plan for the dissemination and/or the diffusion of interventions,” I am submitting my Case Analysis from EDCI 672.

The challenge asks that evidence be presented of a plan communicated to a stakeholder and a reflection on why said plan for dissemination is appropriate for the needs of the stakeholder's company. Within my case analysis there is a solutions section (page 7) in which I breakdown how the designer involved should communicate their needs to the stakeholder as well as how this communication is important for the needs of the organization. This specific case revolves around a designer who was hired to design a kiosk for an aquarium/museum. One stakeholder (a museum employee) wants to continue adding new content to the designer’s project while the key stakeholder who is funding the project likes what the designer has developed. I suggested that, at that moment in time, the designer should communicate that what she is developing contains all key aspects of the museum's current needs.

This was one of my very first case analysis/studies in grad school. The suggestions for dissemination of information are very crude as I had not had much experience in instructional design. However, the artifact fits in with the challenge as it is still a demonstration of communication with stakeholders and a breakdown of that information in terms of the needs of the overall greater organization.

As with all things in life, I hope to continue growing my skills of analyzing cases. The purpose of this would be to avoid the same pitfalls as other designers and to help develop the skill of effective communication with clients. I hope to do this by searching online for educational projects and their design choices/outcomes.
