Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the product Passport™ offered by Purdue University.

In order to use Passport, you must login using one of the available accounts. Purdue University faculty and students should use their Career Account login and password. Through the process of registering your account with Passport, you have the option to connect with other third-party services such as Dropbox. These third-party services are offered as a convenience to you, and are not required to use Passport.

Posting on Passport

The goal of Passport is to enable sharing among its users. Passport requires that users "opt-in" to post information (text, links, media, and documents) such that it can be accessed by other Passport users. Each post is directly linked and presented with personally identifiable information. Your information will only be disclosed if you choose to use Passport.

If you choose to post information on Passport, you should be aware that any personally identifiable information you submit there can be read, collected, or used by other Passport users, and could be used to send you unsolicited messages. We are not responsible for the personally identifiable information you choose to submit, including without limitation any personally identifiable information. Use of Passport is subject to all Purdue University policies, including without limitation the IT Resource Acceptable Use Policy, Electronic Mail Policy, and Antiharassment Policy. The University reserves the right to remove any materials posted in violation of applicable policies.

We also collect data that has been provided by you the user such as:

Information Sharing and Disclosure

We store information that we collect to create a "profile" of your application usage. We tie your personally identifiable information, and interactions within Passport, to information in the profile, in order to conduct research on the use of Passport, provide tailored information and to improve the content of the site for you. Purdue University does not sell, rent or disclose your profile outside of Passport or to any third party not affiliated with the university. Profile information in anonymous, aggregated form may be shared for research and demonstration purposes. This information does not identify individual users.

We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on Purdue University.
