What is Passport?

Passport is a learning and e-portfolio system that uses digital badges to demonstrate user’s competencies and achievements. Users can show off the badges they’ve earned through the public Passport profile in Mozilla Backpack, LinkedIn, and Facebook.

How Does it Work?

Passport is a flexible learning system that allows instructors to create a variety of digital badges to meet their course's needs, and allows for delivery of competency-based learning. There are four easy steps in the badge creation and delivery process.

1

CREATE

2

DELIVER

3

ASSESS

4

AWARD

1

Create

Passport makes it easy to create interactive course content and assignments. Upload files, share links, and even write your own custom HTML. Deliver quizzes, video assignments, and file upload assignments using Passport’s feature-rich authoring tools.

Badge Builder

Passport contains a flexible badge builder for easy creation of great-looking badges. You are guided step-by-step through the creation process and can select different styles, colors, icons, and text for each badge image. Passport also allows you to upload and use badge images created outside the system.

2

Deliver

Passport provides a framework that guides users through learning activities. They are able to review supplemental material, submit content, complete quizzes or surveys, and gather instructor approvals.

Assess

Flexible Outcomes-Based Assessment

Tie learning outcomes and assessments together in one flexible platform that empowers users to collect evidence of their learning, both in and out of the classroom.

Connect challenges with course objectives in order to promote successful knowledge and skill mastery. Follow each user's progress and award badges or reset challenge submissions if the first attempt does not meet the objectives.

Scorecard

Passport's scorecard allows you to translate achievements — such as essays, online discussions, blog posts and video demonstrations — into a numeric-based evaluation system for grading purposes.

Award

Award users a badge for successful completion of learning activities and assignments. You can also create and award special achievement badges without assignments attached.
