PowToon is a tool that allows people with no design or animation experience to create engaging animated presentations and explainer videos. These videos can then be shared to any number of social media websites (e.g., Facebook and Twitter) or exported to YouTube (depending on the plan purchased).

  • PowToon as a tool

Reflect on the various ways that PowToon could be used in the educational, training, or personal learning environments. From your selected perspective, describe two different examples where PowToon could be integrated and used. In both cases, explain why PowToon could positively impact learning.

Use the open text area to submit your reflective response. As a suggestion, you may want to first compose your response in a word processed document, check for all editing that needs to be completed, save your response so that you can access it later, if needed, and then copy and paste your response in the open text area for this challenge.

Powtoon is a cartoon video creation tool that allows users to easily create mini animated clips for use in business, education, training and more.

Animated presentation tools are useful in a variety of different areas. Powtoon allows users the ability to create short animated videos on any subject. Upon first look, Powtoon looks like an extremely useful marketing tool for businesses. It, however, can be used in educational and training environments as well.

Teachers now have the ability to create funny, engaging and short animations for their students. One subject that would benefit from the use of Powtoon is science. Teachers can create animated shorts that visually explain atoms and the other compounds that make up our environment. History teachers can also find this application useful as they can visually provide their students with a multitude of observable content. Teachers can create animations for human migrations and can also create a short about the declaration of independence. The limits are endless.

Regarding professional training, using animations to explain key training concepts helps to keep learners engaged both visually and auditorily. Instructional designers have the ability to show, rather than explain, how procedures and work-related interactions should be conducted.
